Our mission is to provide the highest quality of chiropractic services by being dedicated to patient education, improving and maintaining health of those in the city of Woodbridge and its surrounding areas.
A Chiropractic adjustment is a highly skilled and precise movement usually applied by hand to a joint of the body; it increases movement and decreases pain. Adjustment loosens the joint to restore proper movement and optimize function.
Is chiropractic adjustment safe? Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for treatment of headache, and neck and back pain. IT has an excellent safety record. However, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects.
Soft tissue therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue/fascia, tendons, ligaments and joints. It helps to alleviate discomfort and pain associated with every stressor, muscular over-use and many pain conditions.
Soft tissue therapy is performed by the practitioner by applying pressure with the hands or fingers to specific muscles affected. Pressure is applied along the muscle fibers or in a cross-wise direction to help produce a stretch, remove any scar tissue adhesions, to improve motion in the muscle and reduce pain.
Instrument-assisted soft tissue (IAST) therapy is an advanced form of soft tissue mobilization. It is an effective method to resolve pain and tightness in the body's tissues by breaking down adhesions and scar tissues.
With IAST therapy, instruments or 'tools' are used to 'scan' for scars, restrictions or adhesions in the soft tissues involved. The practitioner then utilizes the instruments to introduce a controlled microtrauma to the affected soft tissue stimulating a local inflammatory response, leading to a chain reaction of healing activities (stimulating the production of new collagen and proper, functional tissue growth) within the affected soft tissue structures.
Dry needling is an effective method to help relax muscles, reduce muscle spasms and alleviate pain by inserting thin, sterile solid needles into specific points on the body. This creates minor lesions into the soft tissues to stimulate the release of endorphins, hormones that reduces the sensation of pain, accelerates healing and restores normal tissue function.
Research has shown the effectiveness of dry needling into myofascial trigger points (mTPs), hypersensitive and tender spots of taut bands founds in muscles. Pressure of a typical mTP can elicit pain, therefore dry needling to these soft tissue tender points can help produce an analgesic effect and alleviate pain.
Ultrasound therapy transmits energy in the form of ultrasonic waves to repair injury to the body's soft tissues, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc. Ultrasound therapy helps repair injury by increasing the blood flow to the area being treated, in turn, bringing nutrients and removing wastes from the site of injury.
Ultrasound therapy can help decrease pain by reducing swelling and inflammation. With this gentle maneuver, it is an effective method to help accelerate tissue healing, decrease muscle spasm and also has a positive effect on reducing scar formation after injury.
Electrotherapy is a device that transmits minute quantities of electrical impulses through the skin into deeper underlying soft tissues. These electrical impulses stimulate endorphins, the body's natural pain-relieving hormones to help reduce the sensation of pain, decrease swelling and overall help the body to heal faster.
When muscles are tight and tense, the muscle may spasm causing the spinal joints to also become restricted in movement and cause pain. Electrotherapy creates a massaging effect over the affected area; this reduces the pain over the affected area and eases muscle spasm. This in turn allows the chiropractor to more effectively treat the spinal joints and restore range of motion in movement with the relaxation of tense muscles.
Our class IV Laser Therapy treatment is a painless treatment that uses laser energy to help increase circulation, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to a damaged area.
This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain.
As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved.
Laser is scientifically proven, there are over 15’000 published studies demonstrating the clinical effectiveness of laser therapy. Among these, there are more than 100 rigorously controlled, scientific studies that document the effectiveness of laser for many clinical conditions such as:
Shockwave therapy accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue.
Strong energy pulses are applied to the affected area for short periods of time, creating micro-cavitation bubbles that expand and burst. The force created by these bubbles stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing.
In many instances, shockwave therapy is most effective in cases where the human body has not been able to heal itself on its own.
Shockwave therapy was initially introduced as a way to break down kidney stones without direct contact. It then evolved to treat non-healing bones by activating osteoblasts.
Today it treats a wide range of medical conditions, including:
A shockwave is an intense, but very short, energy wave travelling faster than the speed of sound. Because it is so powerful, most patients who undergo shockwave treatment recover faster than those treated by other methods.
Shockwave therapy sessions are usually 20-to-30 minutes long and provide successful relief and restore mobility painlessly. Permanent relief typically begins about 72 hours following treatment.
Most patients require three-to-six sessions. There is no downtime for recovery.
There are no shockwave therapy side effects. Treatments are non-invasive and promote accelerated recovery of injured soft tissue, bone, and joint pain.
A custom made orthotic is a device that can be discretely inserted into the shoe to support, align, prevent and/or accommodate foot abnormalities and improve foot mechanics and functionality.
Custom-made orthotics are made from a three-dimensional model of your foot and is fabricated from raw materials at a certified lab. It is fitted and made specifically for you and your feet to ensure that accurate biomechanical assistance is met.
It is often used in conjunction with appropriate footwear. A custom made orthotic can help various issues such as:
Foot orthotics can also help address foot and lower limb pain and complications related to health conditions such as diabetes and arthritis.
Compression socks help promote healthy circulation by applying controlled external pressure to the vessels near the skin, gently moving blood and lymphatic fluid towards the heart. This helps to reinforce the pumping action of the calf muscles and strengthen the amount and speed of circulation back to the heart.
Compression socks and hosiery are manufactured under strict medical and technical specifications, including consistency and durability, to provide a specific level of ankle pressure and graduation of compression. The fabric is made with resistance and the ability to withstand stretching.
Compression socks and hosiery are generally safe to wear, with relatively few complications.
The most critical parts of these compression garments are at the ankle and calf areas, where they squeeze the hardest (100% compression). The amount of compression is graded and decreases as the socks travel up the legs.
i) For symptomatic relief E.g. to help relieve tired, achy fatigued legs
ii) To reduce minor ankle and leg swelling related to varicose veins, spider veins, venous insufficiencies
iii) For anti-embolism purposes, to be worn while traveling long distances such as in a plane or car
Who should get them?
Compression socks may benefit you if:
There are many different types of compression socks with different types of gradients as well. It is important that you properly get measured, to ensure that you have the right fit. When you are fitted properly your compliance will be greater as you will wear them regularly and have greater benefit from them.
Book an appointment today for a consultation and measure to see if they're right for you.
